Error Message when attempting to log into T7 | User experiences the following error message when logging into the district T7 "Error logging into CWMS. Check log for more details. Unable to form an encrypted connection to the CWMS Login Server at URL:...... Solution: User may have multiple certificates in the dropdown menu associated with their CAC. Select a more recent certificate and attempt log in again. If this does not resolve the issue please contact HEC for assistance. | CWMS-1925 | RESOLVED |
Model Linking does not allow flow-combine and flow-diversion parameters to link directly between HMS to RAS | Flow-Diversion and Flow-Combine HEC-HMS parameters are not available within the Model Linking Editor to link from HEC-HMS to other models (such as HEC-RAS). | CWMS-1420 | FUTURE VERSION |
Misleading Error Message in Visualization Tab when displaying gridded data | A misleading error message is displayed when the time window selected in the Visualization Tab does not match the gridded data set that is being displayed in the CAVI. The CAVI will display a Warning stating "WARNING: The DSS file given does not exist, but is required to exist" if the CAVI time window chosen does not match the data of the gridded dss file. Modifying the CAVI time window to the time period of the .dss file will allow the gridded data to display in the map window. Error message will be improved in a later release. | CWMS-1437 | FUTURE VERSION |
"Select Data Validation Set" dialog shows full pathname in Selection List | When navigating to the "Select Data Validation Sets" dialog from the Acquisition Tab > Data Validation, the "Selection List" now shows the entire pathname instead of just the list of Validation Editor files. | CWMS-1940 | RESOLVED |
Ensemble Forecast Run Requires Member Range Entered | When Creating an Ensemble Forecast Run, the Ensemble Members entry cannot be left blank. A range of ensemble members is required, even if all the ensemble members are intended to be used. | CWMS-1979 | FUTURE VERSION |
Ensemble Forecast Processor and DSS Pathname A-Part | To successfully compute an alternative using the Ensemble Forecast Processor (EFP) the A-Part of DSS Pathnames used in the Input Settings > Lookback and Forecast periods must be blank. | CWMS-1986 | RESOLVED |
Model Linking - "Get Linkages from.." Button not available in some Instances | From the Model Linking Editor, the button "Get Linkages from.." is greyed out and not available for some forecasts. This includes ResSim only alternatives. Workaround: Use the "Browse" Button in the Model Linking Editor to manually update a pathname. This will then force the Model Linking Editor to retrieve the updated pathnames from the alternative. | CWMS-1944 | RESOLVED |
Plots do not Open with correct time window range if there is missing data | When plotting data from acquisition or the visualization tab, if a timeseries stored in the icon does not exist, the time window starts at the year 1900. Also occurs for missing data in a timeseries. | CWMS-2014 | RESOLVED |
Uncaught Exception when moving between Tabs before Watershed is Opened | An uncaught exception (Java Error) occurs if a user switches between tabs (IE Setup to Modeling) before a watershed is opened. The error message can be closed and will not impact modeling. | CWMS-1892 | RESOLVED |
ResSim and FIA Plugin Servers Fail to Start if client directory contained a space | ResSim and FIA plugin Servers would fail to start if the directory where the CWMS executables were stored contained a space in the path. (IE C:/CWMS Software/CWMS-3.4.1 Workaround: Ensure directory does not contain a space. Fixed for CWMS 3.5 | CWMS-2012 | RESOLVED |
Model Linkages File not Deleted when a Forecast Run is deleted | When a Forecast Run is deleted from the CAVI, the .Linkages file located in the cavi folder is not deleted. Current workaround for cleanup is to manually delete the file. | CWMS-1213 | RESOLVED |

NPE when interacting with LRTS or PRTS record extracted from Oracle to DSS and time window has no data | Local Regular Time Series (LRTS) and Pseudo Regular Time Series (PRTS) will not generate warning messages when a time window outside of data range is utilized (if in standalone CWMSVue). A NullPointerException (NPE) will be generated in the log. If using CWMSVue embedded in the CAVI, a popup message with the NPE with be generated. If data is present for the time window selected, generating plots and tabular data views work as expected. | CWMSVUE-496 | FUTURE VERSION |
Renaming Camel-case parameter records is unsuccessful. | When attempting to rename a record that contains a camel-case parameter, CWMS-Vue indicates that the record is successfully renamed but the record is not renamed. Workaround for CWMS 3.4 - Rename camel-case records in the latest standalone Beta DSSVue. | DSS-209 | RESOLVED |
Forecast.dss with no data defaults to DSS version 6 | When doing a new forecast, if there is no extract performed and no data generated by a model, the resulting forecast.dss is version 6 when CWMS wants a DSS version 7 record. Workaround: Extract data and/or run a model before trying to open the forecast.dss file | CWMS-1953 | RESOLVED |
Exception when Creating new Rating Specification | If user attempts to create a new Rating Specification without first adjusting the selection for the Rating Template, the Parameters box on the New Rating Specification form is blank. Attempting to save the Rating Specification throws an exception. The User Interface does not display any feedback on OK action. If user cancels the form, they receive a message that the Rating Spec was created. After refresh, the Rating Spec will be gone. Workaround for CWMS 3.4 - If user adjusts the Rating Template selection, the Parameters box will become populated and save action will work. | CWMSVUE-624 | FUTURE VERSION |

MetVue Error Messages when memory usage is maxed out | When HEC-MetVue maxes out its memory usage, it sends out red "SEVERE: Error validation response document...". Error messaging improved. If "SEVERE: Error validation response document error" encountered please contact the HEC team for assistance. | CWMS-1402 | RESOLVED |
Model Linking Editor does not reflect the inputs specified in the CAVI-MetVue Alternative Editor but does not impact valid simulation computes | When observed and forecast datasets have the same location and parameter IDs (e.g. /SHG/RUSSIAN RIVER/PRECIP///QPE/ for observed and /SHG/RUSSIAN RIVER/PRECIP///QPF/ for forecast), the CAVI Model Linking Editor does not reflect the inputs specified in the CAVI-MetVue Alternative Editor. A future enhancement to the CAVI-MetVue alternative is planned where the unique HEC-MetVue Map Window names will be used as location IDs to inform the Model Linking Editor to properly distinguish between the observed and forecast datasets. Until the future enhancement is done, the CAVI-MetVue alternative computes rely on its own inputs directly rather than the CAVI Model Linking Editor. | CWMS-1976 | RESOLVED |
Parameter Conversions do not load for certain forecasts | For the MetVue Model Alternative, when input dataset's units differ from the output dataset, the temperatures unit conversions sometimes fail to load. A workaround is to ensure the output dataset's unit match those of the input dataset. This issue is not occurring in the upcoming CWMS 3.5 version. | CWMS-1998 | RESOLVED |
MetVue Preprocessing fails for INST-VAL Gridded records that have missing data at either the first or last grid is missing. | This situation only happens when either the first or last Instantaneous grid is missing in combination with any missing data in the middle of the time window. One workaround is to change the time window to start or end where there is a grid available. If that's not possible, another workaround is to either use MetVue or DSSVue to dulplicate a grid record and time shift to the missing grid at either the start or end of the time window. A fix has been implemented in CWMS3.5 for the MetVue Preprocessing to properly handle this situation. The reporting in the messaging still needs improvement and that improvement is targeted for CWMS 3.6 | CWMS-2006 | RESOLVED |
Metvue Alternative Result Maps do not copy over color scale settings from their input map windows | Metvue Alternative Result Maps do not copy over color scale settings from their input map windows. Currently color scales must be reset in the forecast. | CWMS-2016 | IN PROGRESS |
Metvue Map Display of Basin Average Map gets offset from Basin Map | Within a Forecast, the MetVue Results map of basin average sometimes becomes offset from the watershed basin map it is based off of. Workaround: Refresh by zooming in the CAVI window, or clicking within the CAVI Map Window to refresh. | CWMS-1709 | RESOLVED |
Map Output Windows (IE Precip) sometimes show up in the Base | In CWMS 3.4.1, when the user deletes a Map Window in MetVue standalone, that Map Window still has a reference in the MetVue-Cavi alternative. This can cause the Map Output window to show up in the base watershed. | CWMS-2018 | RESOLVED |

Save As is not responded as expected. Losing relative links | When using "Save to base" from a forecast, there is a chance that an empty DSS file was copied from the forecast to the main forecast. Then when doing a "Save Watershed As" feature of the CAVI, these empty DSS files lose their relative paths to absolute paths. This should not be an operational issue for CWMS users as these values are usually an extract to the forecast.dss file but might cause the HEC-HMS File Reference Dialog to popup with missing references (if the original gets deleted or the model is then handed off to someone else). It is recommended that the HEC-HMS model is fully operational from the standalone application (including observed data). If this recommendation is followed, this should not be an issue. | CWMS-1397 | IN PROGRESS |
Error 10000 or the program will be unresponsive when migrating to HEC-HMS 4.12 | HEC-HMS changed the way it handled the GIS datasets created when pre-processing the terrain to delineate subbasins. When a terrain dataset is added to a project, a copy is saved to the model's Terrain folder. The terrain pre-processing files, like flow direction and flow accumulation, are saved in the model's GIS folder. An error will happen when migrating to version 4.12 if someone manually deleted the terrain files but left behind the terrain pre-processing files. This issue has been fixed in HEC-HMS 4.13. You can work around this issue by copying the terrain back into the Terrain folder (using the same name as the terrain in the project's *.terrain file). You can copy the elevation .tif file from the GIS directory, place it into the Terrain folder, and rename it. | Issue fixed in HEC-HMS 4.13 | RESOLVED |
Save to Base can cause issues in base model. | Using the CAVI's save to base feature with HEC-HMS has the potential to cause issues with the base HEC-HMS model. This usually comes in the way of changing pathnames but could also be adding HEC-HMS Forecast Variants into files such as the .forecast file. Sometimes, this causes the file reference table to generate blank. This takes going into the .forecast file with a text editor and modifying files, which is not normally a suggested action. Since the "Save to Base" has a good potential for messing up base model files, this feature is being removed for HEC-HMS. It is planned to be implemented in CWMS 3.5 | CWMS-2054 | RESOLVED |
HMS Results Plots and Summary Tables are not updating when Forecast is re-run | Within a CWMS Forecast, the HMS Result Plots and Summary Tables are not updating when the Forecast is re-run. Workarounds:

ResSim Compute Fails when Period Average Data is used by variables in the OSI. | A compute message like the following is generated; however, the compute will actually run when clicking compute a second time. For now, the work around is to make sure input time-series for OSI variables is INST-VAL. Error in TSRecord.loadTSData. Input timeseries //RES-A/FLOW-IN//1HOUR/INPUT/. Period Average Data can not be interpolated as Instantaneous data | CWMS-1913 | FUTURE VERSION |
Missing Time Series Warning in the Alternative Editor | When the user launches the Alternative Editor, user may get a warning message that there are missing time series that need input even though the table is complete. This warning message will appear if there is missing time series in any of the variants. As long as the CWMS Time Series table is complete, the user can disregard the warning message. It will not affect their CWMS runs. | RSS-993 | FUTURE VERSION |
OSI graphical plot does not always update to show overrides | For some time series, graphical display with overrides is not updating if user draws it in or enters it into the table. Workaround: Select "Refresh Plot" in the OSI | RSS-1049 | FUTURE VERSION |
OSI Observed Data | When observed time series are used within OSI, modelers are responsible for ensuring the referenced time series use the correct time step and data type (period average or instantaneous) to be consistent with the alternative. Users should be aware of why they may get a warning related to observed data and understand how to address: update the reference data. | CWMS-1937 | NA - no change planned. |

Pathnames for 1D Storage Areas that have multiple boundary conditions get replaced | After running a forecast in the CAVI, all boundary conditions for a 1D storage area with multiple inflows are reset to the same DSS pathname. The pathnames are initially correct in both the Model Linking Editor and the HEC-RAS unsteady flow file before the forecast is run, however after the forecast is computed the pathnames will be reset to the same value for any 1D storage area with multiple inflows. Workaround: Open the HEC-RAS model from the Setup Tab, and from the Unsteady Flow editor give each of the boundary conditions for the 1D storage area a unique name (Options - Boundary Condition Names). Update the HEC-RAS model linking with the "Use Existing RAS Linkages" option from the Model Linking Editor. | CWMS-2040 | FUTURE VERSION |
Automatic Generation of Stored Maps during Compute Fails if Alternative Terrain is Selected | If the user specifies an alternative terrain (i.e. a re-sampled terrain different than the terrain used for computations) for a Saved Map such as Max Depth, then the Saved Map won't be automatically generated during the compute, even if the Floodplain Mapping Box was checked for the simulation. Workaround: After the simulation finishes computing, open RAS Mapper and manually compute/update stored maps. | CWMS-1281 | FUTURE VERSION |
Failure to load RAS Plugin | User cannot (and never was able to previously) launch HEC-RAS 6.5 from the CAVI, and encounters the error "Failed to find RAS Server. RAS Plugin not Loaded" Solution: First confirm that RAS 6.5 has been installed on the user's machine. If HEC-RAS 6.5 is installed but the error persists, have an Admin run _Register_New_RAS_and_RASMapper_Files.bat (The .bat file is located within the HEC-RAS 6.5 install directory) | CWMS-2005 | RESOLVED |

Forecast Results not Visible in FIA for a Grids-Only Compute | The result reports of a successful HEC-FIA Grid Only Alternative simulation are only available to view from the CAVI, and not within HEC-FIA. Work-around is to make sure to view the reports from within the CAVI. | CWMS-1235 | IN PROGRESS |
