Lookback Time and Look Ahead Time mixing units

The Relative to Current Time time window is not being set correctly when the Look Back Time units and Look Ahead Time units are different. This occurs either in the Data Validation Editor launched from the Acquisition Tab, or Time Series Icon plots in the Acquisition or Visualization Tabs.

Current Workaround: The “Relative to Current Time Window” will only use the units set for the “Look Ahead Time”, and ignore the units for “Look Back Time” in CWMS 3.3.1. Please make sure the units are the same. For example set Look Back Time to 12 hours and Look Ahead Time to 24 hours to accurately plot a time window looking back 12 hours and looking forward 1 day.

RESOLVED

Time Series Selected not Displayed in Records Chooser - Edit Extract

When selecting Time Series records to add to an Extract List, the CWMSVue dialog window does not display the selected record(s) at the bottom of the window. The user can only verify the correct records were chosen once added to the Extract List.

CWMS-1229

RESOLVED

Default Forecast Time Window does Not Respect different Units for Forecast Length

Setting the default time window - Forecast Length will not use the units select if different than the units selected for the Extract Period or Look Back Period. For example setting the default forecast length to 36 hours will result in a forecast length of 36 days.

Current Workaround: Make sure to use the same units for the Forecast Length

RESOLVED

Model Linking does not allow flow-combine and flow-diversion parameters to link directly between HMS to RASFlow-Diversion and Flow-Combine HMS parameters are not available within the Model Linking Editor to link from HMS to other models (such as RAS). The recommended work-around is to add a junction in the HMS model to "collect" the Flow-Diversion from the Diversion element. The flow from the new junction can then be linked in the Model Linking Editor to RAS. The same approach could be used for Flow-Combine locations if necessary. This ability has never been supported in CWMS, but will be investigated for inclusion in a future release.CWMS-1420

FUTURE VERSION

DBAPI based scripts randomly fail to connect when multiple database connections (including CDA) are setup in the CAVI

When setting up CDA connections in the CAVI time series icons and extract lists, a DBAPI based script executed from the CAVI fails occasionally when it picks up the wrong database connection due to the current logic of the DPAPI that randomly determines the order of database connections to use.  For users interested in using CDA as part of transitioning to the national CWMS Database, please contact HEC for an updated DBAPI.   Future versions of CWMS will also include an updated DBAPI.

CWMS-Vue 3.3 Math - Time Function - Offset Issue

The "Time Offset" setting doesn't work in the "Time Function -  Min/Max/Avg/… Over Period" Math Function.

After using computing with the "Time Function", the workaround is to use the "Change Time Interval" function to set and apply the desired time offset.

CWMSVUE-495

FUTURE VERSION

NPE when interacting with LRTS or PRTS record extracted from Oracle to DSS and time window has no data

Local Regular Time Series (LRTS) and Pseudo Regular Time Series (PRTS) will not generate warning messages when a time window outside of data range is utilized (if in standalone CWMSVue). A NullPointerException (NPE) will be generated in the log.

If using CWMSVue embedded in the CAVI, a popup message with the NPE with be generated.

If data is present for the time window selected, generating plots and tabular data views work as expected.

CWMSVUE-496

FUTURE VERSION

Date issues when tabulating with Excel.

When tabulating data using the Tabulate with MS Excel, we are sometimes getting a date 100 years into the future.  So 1999 in the DSS file, turns into 2099 in excel. If DSS has a date of 2000 or greater there are no issues..

MetVue Exception after Deleting Map Window

A Null Pointer Exception will occur if a map window is deleted from the MetVue project, and then the user attempts to edit the MetVue alternative from the CAVI.

Current work-around - before deleting a Map Window in the MetVue project make sure to uncheck the use of those Map Windows from the Input Settings and Output Settings tabs in the MetVue Alternative Editor in the CAVI.

Description

Status

HEC-HMS would abort a compute for some cases with multiple forecast runs in the same forecast.HEC-HMS identifies the grid properties for precipitation/temperature grids (including extents and grid cell sizes). The properties must be consistent for all grids of the same type. HEC-HMS was using the same grid properties when running multiple forecast runs in the same forecast. Now, HEC-HMS updates the grid properties each time a simulation is computed. HMS-3403

RESOLVED

HEC-HMS run times gradually get longer when running HEC-HMS simulations through CAVI.HEC-HMS was creating a new progress observer for each simulation without deleting the old observer. The number of observers and the number of messages sent back to the CAVI kept increasing with each compute. HMS-3453

RESOLVED

When running HEC-HMS from CAVI, the compute would be skipped even though model files (subbasin parameters) had changed.HEC-HMS keeps track of whether there are changes to model components, including the meteorologic model, basin model, and forecast specific editors. If you access HEC-HMS editors, like the combined parameter editor, from CAVI and make edits to the HEC-HMS model then HEC-HMS should notify CAVI that it needs to be re-computed. This notification was not happening all the time and has been fixed. The CAVI should not skip the HEC-HMS simulation anytime you edit HEC-HMS model components.HMS-3475

RESOLVED

The Basin Model Map does not open in HEC-HMS sometimes, and results cannot be accessed. If you open and close HEC-HMS a couple of times within a forecast (launch standalone HEC-HMS), the HEC-HMS model model might not open when you select it from the watershed explorer. Or, the basin model will open but you cannot access results from the basin model map. A related issue was that when closing a forecast and trying to launch HMS while on the Setup tab would freeze the CAVI. These issues would happen with HEC-HMS 4.11 through 4.12 Beta 5. These issues have been resolved with HEC-HMS 4.12 beta 6.  HMS-3366

RESOLVED

DSS files with time-series, paired, and grid data not successfully copied to the forecast directory. The HEC-HMS project might reference DSS files containing time-series, paired, and grid data records. For example, these files might have storage-discharge information for Mod-Puls reaches or parameter grids. In some situations the external DSS files are empty when a new forecast is created. In this case, HEC-HMS will stop the simulation and request the data be corrected. The work around is to manually copy the missing data. The HEC-HMS team changed how DSS files/records are copied and this issue has been resolved.  CWMS-1614

Automatic Generation of Stored Maps during Compute Fails if Alternative Terrain is Selected

If the user specifies an alternative terrain for the Saved Maps (such as Max Depth), in RAS Mapper (IE a re-sampled terrain different than the terrain used for computations) then the Saved Maps won't be automatically created during the compute even if the Floodplain Mapping Box was checked for the simulation.

Workaround: After simulation finishes computing, open RAS Mapper and manually compute/update stored maps. This is good practice anyway for the modeler to review output from RAS before saving the stored maps to disk.

Forecast Results not Visible in FIA for a Grids-Only ComputeIn both CWMS 3.2.3 and CWMS 3.3.0 the result reports of a successful FIA Grid Only Alternative simulation are only available to view from the CAVI, and not within HEC-FIA.

Work-around is to make sure to view the reports from within the CAVI.
