CWMS CAVI Main Window

The CWMS CAVI main window is shown below. Each module - Acquisition, Visualization, Modeling, and Setup - is represented by a tab. Each module has its own set of menus, tools, and a map window specific to the module's function.

These are the basic elements of the main window:

• Title Bar - displays the name of the active watershed
• Menu Bar - contains general and module-specific menus
• Main Toolbar - contains shortcut icons for menu commands
• Module Tabs - contains the four module tabs for each CWMS module (clicking a tab opens that module)
• Watershed Pane - contains the module-specific commands and items
• Map Window Toolbar - contains tools to navigate within the map window and set up time series icons
• Map Window - displays a georeferenced map of the watershed
• Message Pane - displays a scrolling list of messages 
• Status Bar - displays map coordinates when the select tool is hovering over a location in the map window

Menu Bar

The File, View, Maps, Scripts, Tools, Window, and Help menus contain commands that you can access from all four modules. Some of these menus also contain module-specific commands that appear only within individual modules. The following are descriptions of the commands and options that are common to all four modules.

• File Menu
  • Open Watershed - open a CWMS watershed from a browser
  • Recent Watersheds - provides a list of watersheds that you have opened recently for quick access
  • Save Watershed - save current watershed
  • Save Watershed As - create a copy of the current watershed
  • Close Watershed - close the current watershed but keep the CAVI open 
  • Login - login to a CWMS server
  • Logout - logout of a CWMS server
  • Exit - close the watershed and CAVI
• View Menu
  • Zoom to All - zoom the map to full extents
  • Displayed Units - change units displayed on map (English or SI)
  • Displayed Time Zone - change time zone displayed in CAVI
  • Toolbars - turn shortcut toolbars on/off
  • Messages - turn the Messaged window on/off
  • Status - turn Status bar on/off
  • Module Tabs - turn Module Tabs on/off
  • Save Layout - save current layout to template
  • Restore Layout - load layout template
  • Layout Manager - open Layout Manager
• Maps Menu
  • Map Layers - add/remove layers, turn layers on/off, change symbology, etc.
  • Default Map Properties - adjust map extents and default map layers
  • Add Internet Map - load a background map from a list of internet maps (Google Street Map, for example)
  • Display Map Coordinates - toggle map coordinates between Internet and Watershed
  • Save Map Image - save a copy of the map as a .wmf, .jpg, or .png
  • Print Map - print a copy of the map
• Scripts Menu
  • Editor - opens Script Editor Dialog (create or edit scripts)
  • Schedule Script Job - schedule script job on client or server at regular intervals
  • Script Job Status - view status of script jobs
  • Run - execute an existing script
• Tools Menu
  • CWMS-Vue - launch CWMS-Vue
  • Applications - launch Data Exchange, Data Status Summary, CWMS-Vue, or HEC-DSSVue
  • Options - set options for CWMS (Model Directories, Plug-in locations, etc.) 
  • Console Output - view console.log file
  • Logs - view log file for any of the modeling programs
  • Memory Monitor - view memory usage
  • Download Files - download files from CWMS server
  • Upload Files - upload files to CWMS server
  • View File - view file on CWMS server
  • Edit File - edit file on CWMS server
• Window Menu
  • Duplicate Window - open a duplicate copy of the current map window
  • Detach Window - open the current map window in a separate, detached window
  • New Map Window - open a new map window
  • Map Window Settings - change map window settings (grid, background color, zoom level, etc.)
  • Sync Map Windows - set zoom level for all open map windows to the zoom level of the selected map window
  • Tile - display all open map windows (tiled) in the Map Panel
  • Cascade - stack all open map windows in the Map Panel
  • Window Selector - select a map window from the open map windows
  • Next Window - display the next map window in the list of open map windows
  • Previous Window - display the previous map window in the list of open map windows
• Help Menu
  • User's Manual - link to CWMS User's Manual on Confluence
  • About - displays current version of CWMS software

Main Toolbar

The main toolbar of the CWMS CAVI provides quick access to the most frequently used options from the CWMS CAVI menu bar and consists of the following six toolbars:

Standard Toolbar

From this toolbar you can create a new watershed; open a watershed; close a watershed; save a watershed; and print what is displayed in the Map Window.

Map Toolbar 

From this toolbar you can open a new map window; set the zoom level for all open map windows to the selected map window's zoom level; tile all open map windows in the Map Panel; and stack all open map windows in the Map Panel.

Modules Toolbar

From this toolbar you can select the individual Module Tabs – Acquisition, Visualization, Modeling, and Setup.

Modeling Toolbar 

From this toolbar you can open HEC-MetVue; open MFP; open HEC-HMS; open HEC-ResSim; open HEC-FIA; open the Scripting Program dialog; and open HEC-RAS.

Tools Toolbar 

From this toolbar you can open CWMS-Vue.

Animation Toolbar 

This toolbar is only available from the Visualization module. If you have created a grid set, the Animate button will open the Animate dialog and the grid set will display in the map window.
