Plotting and Tabulating Data
The following steps identify a number of ways you can plot and tabulate data accessed through CWMS-Vue.
Step 1 Set Time Window
A time window must be defined in order to plot or tabulate data from the Time Series tab. As shown below, there are two ways to access the Set Time Window editor.
- Option 1 Display Menu
- Got to the Display menu and select the Time Widow option.
- Option 2 Set Time Window Button
- At the bottom of CWMS-Vue, click the Set Time Window button as shown below.

- At the bottom of CWMS-Vue, click the Set Time Window button as shown below.
The following figure shows the Set Time Window editor. There are four options below. At the bottom of the editor there is an option to retain the time window setting between each session that you open CWMS Vue.
- No Time Window
- Specific Time Window
- Relative to Current Time
- By Individual Water Year

Step 2 Use Filters to Select Time Series
As shown in the figure below, there are many filter options to help you find the time series you are interested in. You should see tool tips for each filter when you hover your mouse on the column header. You can sort the data by double clicking a column header as well.

As shown in the figure below, you can add to and remove filters by clicking the plus sign on the right side of the filter selector. The Time Range as Stored filters are valuable because they show you the time range (date of first and last data value). You know if there is data for the record before plotting or tabulating it.

There are two options for selecting data to plot and tabulate. You can simply select the records in the pathname table as shown below. You can click on each record and use the control and shift keys to select multiple records.

Or you can select the records and click the Select button to add them to the Select Pathnames List at the bottom of the window as shown below. You have to be careful about clearing the selection (click the Clear Selections button) when attempting to plot additional time series using the process to select records described above. Records that are in the selected pathname list are always plotted or tabulated regardless of the records selected in the pathname table.

Step 3 Plot or Tabulate the Selected Time Series
There are multiple ways to plot and tabulate the selected time series. Remember, you must have a time window defined and a record selected to plot or tabulate data.
- Click the Plot or Tabulate buttons as shown below. The File menu from both the plot and table editors have options for Plot or Tabulate. You can open a plot and then go to File | Tabulate to open the table view of the data in the plot.

- The other option is to go to the Display menu and choose the Plot and Tabulate menu options as shown below. The plot option will plot all selected time series in one plot (with multiple viewports if needed). The Plot Individual Data Sets option will plot one record at a time and you can select records individually from a list. Other options on the Display menu are described in the HEC-DSSVue Users Manual.

The following figure shows a standard plot that opens for a time series. Just like HEC-DSSVue, there are many options to customize the draw properties, axis labels, titles, and other items in plots. Please refer to https://www.hec.usace.army.mil/confluence/dssdocs/dssvueum/customizing-plots for detailed information about customizing plots.
