From the ResSim main window, navigate to the Water Quality module. The module's data panel allows users to select and view specific water quality datasets on the map schematic. Within the Toolbar, there are three key tools related to water quality (see Water Quality Module – Toolbar Tools):

  1. Water Quality Extent and Regions Tool (top): This tool sets the geographic extent and regional divisions for a selected geometry dataset.

  2. Mass Injection Tool (middle): This tool is used exclusively for the Mass Injection Dataset. Detailed instructions on using this tool are provided in the section Define a Mass Injection Site of this chapter.

  3. Station Tool (bottom): This tool is specifically used for meteorological and observed datasets (refer to Chapter 3 and Chapter 7 for further details).

Mass injection sites can be associated with reaches, reservoirs, and junctions. When a mass injection site is added to a reach or reservoir, it can either be applied at the location where it is placed or distributed throughout the model domain. This distribution option can be configured within the Mass Injection Set Editor. For mass injection sites assigned to a reservoir, the elevation of the injection point must be defined.

In the map schematic window, mass injection sites are displayed perpendicular to the reach, reservoir, or junction, as shown in Figure 11.3.
