The Water Quality Extent and Regions tool is used within the WQ Geometry Dataset, enabling users to modify the default Extent and Regions for a selected Geometry Dataset (e.g., GeometryData1 in the HEC-ResSim Main Window – Water Quality Module). This tool allows users to replace the default geometry Extent, which includes the entire watershed, with a smaller, user-defined water quality model Extent that covers only part of the watershed. Additionally, it enables users to define one or more water quality Regions (by default, the entire Extent is considered a Region) for specifying spatially varying water quality parameters within the water quality model domain.
For more information about the WQ Geometry Dataset and instructions on using the Water Quality Extent and Regions tool, refer to Chapter 4. For further details on water quality parameters, refer to Chapter 6.
The Mass Injection tool enables users to create, edit, move, remove, or delete mass injection sites. This tool does not require a Mass Injection dataset (e.g., Mass_Injection1 in the HEC-ResSim Main Window – Water Quality Module) to be selected in order to add or modify mass injection sites on the map schematic. For more information on mass injections and instructions for using the Mass Injection tool, refer to Chapter 11.
The Station Tool, accessed from the Water Quality module, serves a different purpose than the one in the Watershed Setup module. In the Water Quality module, the Station Tool is slightly offset from the other two tools because it does not "create" anything on the map schematic. Instead, it allows users to right-click on a WQ station in the map schematic to access a shortcut menu. From this menu, users can view the station's name and select one of the following two editing options:
Edit Met Dataset – This option appears if the WQ station is part of the selected Met Dataset (e.g., Met_Dataset1 in the HEC-ResSim Main Window – Water Quality Module). Selecting this opens the Meteorological Dataset Editor (see Chapter 3).
Edit Observed Dataset – This option appears if the WQ station is part of the selected Observed Dataset (e.g., Observed_Data1 in the HEC-ResSim Main Window – Water Quality Module). Selecting this opens the Observed Dataset Editor (see Chapter 7).
