The Water Quality module is a newly introduced module designed for performing water quality modeling. It only appears in the Module dropdown list when the ResSim watershed is set to "Use Water Quality" (through the Watershed Data Editor). In the Water Quality module, the list of Module Data appears to the right of the Modules list (HEC-ResSim Main Window – Water Quality Module). The Module Data panel allows users to select and view any specific water quality datasets in the model, which are then displayed on the map schematic. For example, in the figure below, the selected module data displayed in the schematic includes Network, Geometry, Met Dataset, Observed Data and Mass Injection.

The Water Quality Data Model shows a schematic of the water quality datasets needed for a typical water quality simulation in ResSim. To perform a water quality simulation in ResSim, a calibrated flow model is required. The necessary water quality inputs for each simulation in ResSim include:

  • Meteorological data
  • Water quality geometry
  • Water quality constituents
  • Water quality parameters
  • Boundary conditions
  • Initial conditions
  • Mixing coefficients
