The Connections tab (Geometry Editor – Connections Tab) displays a table that lists the ResSim reaches along with dropdown menus for selecting the appropriate upstream and downstream HEC-RAS cross-sections. The Reach column identifies the reaches in the ResSim network, while the Upstream Cross Section and Downstream Cross Section columns allow users to select the corresponding HEC-RAS cross-sections (cross-section identification is typically set by river mile; for more details on cross-sections, refer to the HEC-RAS User's Manual). The user can modify the assigned cross-section if it is incorrect for the ResSim reach by selecting the appropriate cross-section from the dropdown list in the table. A useful feature of the Geometry Editor (Example – HEC-ResSim Map Schematic Identification – Geometry Editor – Connections Tab – Upstream and Downstream HEC-RAS Cross Section Assignment) is that when a network element is selected from the Connections tab, it is highlighted and zoomed into the map window schematic display area of the ResSim main window (e.g., Yoakim Bridge is highlighted in yellow). This feature is particularly useful when editing the upstream and/or downstream cross-section linkages, as outlined in Add or Edit Geometry Connections.
