To enter the observed data for a constituent from an HEC-DSS file:
- From the editable data panel, select DSS from the Data Source dropdown list. The editable panel below the dropdown will update to reflect the selected data source.
- Click the Select DSS button. This will open the Select Time Series Path HEC-DSS selection window.
- In the Select Time Series Path HEC-DSS selection window, click Open from the toolbar or select Open from the File menu. The Open HEC-DSS File browser window will open.
- In the Open HEC-DSS File browser window, navigate to the location of the HEC-DSS (.dss) file containing the desired time series data. Select the appropriate file and click Open. The Open HEC-DSS File window will close, and the selected file will open in the Select Time Series Path HEC-DSS selection window.
- In the Select Time Series Path HEC-DSS window, find and select the record of interest from the opened HEC-DSS file. Click Set Pathname.
- The editable data panel and plot window in the Observed Dataset Editor will display the selected DSS time series (Observed Dataset Editor – DSS Data Source – DSS Timeseries Example Completed).
Note: The selected DSS record for observed data can be defined as paired data (e.g., elevation vs. constituent) only for stations that have the Profile Station checkbox checked in the Station Properties Editor. For more information, refer to the Define a Water Quality Station. Observed Dataset Editor – DSS Data Source – DSS paired data Example Completed displays an example of observed paired data timeseries.
- When finished with the Select Time Series Path HEC-DSS selection window, click Close from the File menu to close the window.
- Optionally, enter a description in the Description box.
By default, the Plot Selected Data Source radio button is selected, which displays the plot for the selected data source in the Data Source dropdown. If multiple data sources are filled out, the plot window will display all data sources when the Plot All Defined Data Sources radio button is selected.
Click Apply to save the entered data before navigating to another data source, constituent, observed station, or observed dataset. Click OK to save the entered data and close the Observed Dataset Editor.
