When performing water quality modeling, the Watershed Setup module is used to add meteorological and water quality stations to the map schematic (in the map display area). Water quality (WQ) stations added to the schematic using the Station Tool  , accessed from the Toolbar (figure), do not get assigned to a single Configuration. Instead, WQ stations function similarly to stream alignments, displaying in the map schematic no matter which configuration is selected in the Watershed Setup (figure) module. However, unlike a created stream alignment, the WQ stations are not visible in the Network module.

It is possible to use a shapefile (.shp) that contains the geographic location of WQ stations by importing the shapefile as a map layer, and then using the locations of the stations in the map schematic to add each station by hand using the *Station Tool , from the Toolbar (figure). Note: Before entering water quality data in the Water Quality module, meteorological and observed stations should be defined in the Watershed Setup (figure) module.
