Views, Navigation Bars, Selection Tree and Data Panel0
Below the Observed Dataset Editor navigation bar is a selection tree located in the left panel. This tree enables users to navigate through the active stations and constituents defined in the selected observed dataset. The dataset tree is organized by station (Observed Dataset Editor – Summary table), with the observed stations displayed as the primary "parent nodes" and the observed constituents listed as secondary "child nodes" beneath each station.
Observed Dataset Editor – Summary table
Selecting a station from the selection tree (such as the observed dataset name, station name, or observed constituent) updates the data panel located to the right of the selection tree. For example, when the station Hopland Observed is selected from the tree (as shown in the Observed Dataset Editor – Summary table), the data panel displays a station navigation bar at the top. It also provides options to view the observed constituent set for the station by selecting either the Summary or Stacked Plot radio buttons.
Observed Dataset Summary Table
To access a summary table of the entered constituents by observed station name:
In the Observed Dataset Editor, from the observed dataset navigation bar, select the desired observed dataset (e.g., Observed Data).
The summary table will display the constituents by station name for one station, or for multiple stations with the same input constituents. A checked checkbox indicates that the station and constituent contain input data, while an unchecked checkbox identifies constituents without input data. Note that the summary table is not editable.
In the selection tree panel, right-click the dataset name to open a shortcut menu (as shown in Observed Dataset Editor – Dataset Summary – Example). From the shortcut menu, select Expand All to display all constituents and active stations in the selected observed dataset. Alternatively, select Collapse All to close all open selection tree nodes. Specific nodes can also be expanded by clicking the plus symbol or collapsed by clicking the minus symbol.

Observed Station Summary Table or Stacked Plot
To access a summary table of the entered constituents by observed station name:
From the selection tree, select the station name (e.g., Hopland Observed).
The data panel will update (as shown in Observed Dataset Editor – View Station Data by Summary Table) to display the selected station's information. The station navigation bar at the top of the data panel will show the selected station name (e.g., Hopland Observed).
Observed Dataset Editor – View Station Data by Summary Table
The data panel offers two options for displaying a summary of the constituents' input data for the selected station: Summary and Stacked Plot. Please note that the summary information is not editable.
By default, the station summary data is displayed as a Summary table. However, users can choose to view the data as a series of plots by selecting the Stacked Plots radio button.
The Stacked Plot option visually presents the entered data in the plot panel at the bottom of the data panel, following the same order as listed in the selection tree (Observed Dataset Editor – View Station Data by Stacked Plot). The plots reflect the data entered for each individual constituent.
Note: When multiple data sources are used to define an observed constituent, the last data source entered (or viewed) will be displayed in the summary plot after changes are applied. For example, if a constant value is entered and then a DSS time series dataset is entered for a constituent, the DSS time series dataset will be shown in the summary stacked plot for the selected station once the changes are saved.
To navigate to a different active station, select another station from the selection tree. Alternatively, use the dropdown list or navigation buttons in the station navigation bar to toggle between stations. To switch to a different constituent, select the desired constituent from the selection tree.
