The current version of HEC-SSP allows the user to estimate flows for a location with a short period of record using a location with a longer period of record. For example, the Record Extension Analysis can be used to estimate an extended annual maximum series of streamflow at a short record site using the statistics of a nearby site with a longer period of record. The results of this type of analysis can be used in subsequent analyses to improve estimates of flow-frequency. Both annual maximum series and daily average streamflow can be used within this analysis.
