Shapefiles

Different types of shapefiles can be used for mass processing of times series sampling.  A polygon shapefile and point shapefile are included in the HEC-MetVue project to use in later parts of this exercise for time series sampling.

  • The shapefiles have been preloaded into the Project Defaults and inherited by the Map Windows.
    • The shapefiles source files are located in the "..\HEC-MetVue_TimeSeriesSampling\Maps" folder.
  • In the "Project Defaults", review the three loaded maps.

Note that the green filled area symbol to the left of the HUC8 polygon shapefile designates it as a basin average map, while an unfilled area symbol designates the USA map as a background map .

Color Scale

  • In Project Explorer, click on the "Sioux_James" Session then go the to Properties Window and review the Color Scale settings.  Use the ... button to open the Color Scale Editor.

Note that the selected Color Scale is a default explicit scale that is meant for precipitation data ranging from 0 to 30 inches.

  • Close the Color Scale Editor and proceed to the next task to review the datasets.
