For large HEC-WAT Flood Risk Analysis (FRA) computes, it is possible to distribute lifecycles or realizations to multiple processes on multiple computers. This can happen either in the cloud through Amazon Web Services (AWS) or through a locally constructed network of virtual machines.  The distributed compute is a highly specialized plugin in HEC-WAT that allows the user to choose an option in the simulation control user interface. The Compute Engine option in the Run FRA Simulation dialog box provides an option for Multi-Threaded Compute when the distributed compute plugin is loaded with the instance of HEC-WAT. The distributed compute is described in the Distributed Compute Plugin documentation.
