Task 1: Downloading the Watershed
Downloading the Master Watershed
Both Groups
Talk with your corresponding team (team with the same number) and decide who will be the HEC-HMS modeling group and who will be the HEC-ResSim modeling group.
- Open the CAVI (local mode).
- Select Watershed >Team> Download Master Watershed.
- Select On the Network Drive and browse to the TeamModeling_HEC_RR.wtrshd file at the location below WITH YOUR ASSIGNED GROUP NUMBER (Replace XX with your group number ie. 01, 02, 03).
\\share.hec.usace.army.mil\USACE\CWMS_Propsect\Team_Modeling\Model_XX\watershed\TeamModeling_HEC_RR\TeamModeling_HEC_RR.wtrshd - For example, if you are Team 1 you would browse to the location below:
\\share.hec.usace.army.mil\USACE\CWMS_Propsect\Team_Modeling\Model_01\watershed\W12_HEC_RussianRiver\W12_HEC_RussianRiver.wtrshd - Click Apply, then click Download.
- Set the Download Location for the watershed as C:\CWMS_Class.
- Since you are downloading the full watershed for the first time, this process might take some time. When the download completes you will have a copy of the base watershed on your machine.
- When prompted, open the watershed.
Setting up a team watershed is a simple process. To see how this is done, open the Watershed Properties for the watershed and select the Team tab. You can see the option to make the current watershed a team watershed and the location you want to upload it (network drive). Close the Watershed Properties window without making any changes since we already have a team watershed that you just downloaded.
Double Check Master Watershed Location
It is good practice to double check the watershed location to ensure the CAVI is pointing to the correct location. Under the Setup tab, right-click on the name of the watershed and choose Watershed Properties.
Downloading the Team Forecast
A team forecast has been created by a previous modeler that has also been uploaded to the master location. Download the forecast and review the data.
From the Modeling tab, select the Team tab at the bottom of the left pane and then select Download.
If Download Button Isn't Shown
If the Download Button is not shown on the Forecast Tab, user should create a forecast (time window/data does not matter) and then close that forecast. Then the Download button will be available.
When the dialog opens, select the TeamForecast forecast and click Download.
- When prompted, open the forecast.
- You have now downloaded a copy of a forecast from the master watershed.
Use information found on the Team tab of the forecast to answer the following questions:
