This manual is organized in parallel with the CWMS workflow and is separated into four sections. The section focused on using CWMS precedes the section focused on configuration because using CWMS is a routine task while setting up watersheds is an infrequent task. Supplemental materials are also included in the manual for additional topics and where more detail is needed.

Section I: The Basics

  • Useful for all staff
  • Overview of the basic CWMS “infrastructure”
  • Walkthrough of CWMS and introduction layers

Section II: Using CWMS

  • Targeted toward operations staff
  • How to view and monitor data
  • How to validate and edit data
  • How to run a forecast
  • How to view, manage, and post results

Section III: Configuring CWMS

  • Targeted toward modeling staff
  • How to configure a watershed
  • How to configure model alternatives
  • How to configure forecast alternatives
  • How to edit model parameters

Section IV: Supplemental Materials

  • Supplemental information not covered in the preceding documentation
  • More in-depth explanation of features

Screenshots were captured using example watersheds. In CWMS, some dialog titles and menu options correspond with the names of items that are specific to the watershed. Thus, dialog titles and menu options shown in a watershed may vary from what is shown in this document.
