Background

HEC-MetVue is a powerful tool that can assist water managers with the display, verification and editing of spatial data such as precipitation, temperature and snowmelt products.

This workshop provides examples of how to incorporate the HEC-MetVue (Meteorological Visualization Utility Engine) program into the Corps Water Management System (CWMS) interface by importing an existing HEC-MetVue project or creating a new HEC-MetVue project within the CWMS CAVI (Control And Visualization Interface). It will then walk the user through the remaining alternative setup steps, including data extraction, alternative setup, forecast creation & testing as well as a basic overview of simulation processes and results.

Overview

This workshop utilizes the CWMS 3.5 software package available to download at:

Latest CWMS Release

The CWMS 3.5 software package includes HEC-MetVue version 3.4.1 and HEC-HMS 4.12 that will be used throughout the workshop.

The workshop data package, which includes a starting project and a solution project, is available for download:

HEC-MetVue_CWMS_SetupOrientation.7z

Workshop Directory Path

This tutorial provides instructions that assume the workshop files were saved to the following directory path: C:\Workshops\MetVue\HEC-MetVue_CWMS_SetupOrientation

If the workshop files are saved in a different location, the provided directory paths must be updated to reflect the alternate location.

More information on the CWMS CAVI, HEC-MetVue and HEC-HMS software (documentation, tutorials & guides) can be found at:
