The objective of this course is to provide modelers with the background required for practical application of techniques for flood frequency analysis. The primary references will be the "Guidelines for Determining Flood Flow Frequency" (Bulletin 17C) and EM 1110-2-1415, "Hydrologic Frequency Analysis." Lectures and workshop sessions will provide the background required to understand the statistical analysis. Knowledge gained within the lectures is applied through the use of the Hydrologic Engineering Center’s Statistical Software Package (HEC-SSP).

You will need HEC-SSP version 2.3-beta.5 or newer to open the workshop files. You can download the software here: https://www.hec.usace.army.mil/software/hec-ssp/download.aspx.

You will need HEC-HMS version 4.11-beta.14 or newer to open the workshop files.  You can download the software here: https://www.hec.usace.army.mil/software/hec-hms/downloads.aspx.

A zip file containing the data files for each workshop is here: FloodFrequencyAnalysis_May2022.zip
