The US Army Corps of Engineers, Institute for Water Resources, Hydrologic Engineering Center (HEC), River Hydraulics Division is advertising to fill a full-time permanent position as a Civil Engineer (Hydraulics), GS-0810-09/11/12/13, as a member of the Hydraulic Engineering Center-River Analysis System (HEC-RAS) team.

Duty location Davis, California. The position may be eligible for situational telework and requires business travel about 25 percent of the time.

• Conducts independent hydraulic engineering investigations and analyses: riverine and floodplain hydraulics, bridge and culvert hydraulics, dam and levee safety, sediment transport, channel processes, and inundation mapping.
• Leads or contributes substantially to the development of HEC-RAS, identifying technical requirements and developing maintainable software designs for one- and two-dimensional hydraulic modeling, sediment transport, water quality, hydraulic structures, and mapping and visualization.
• Develops and executes unit, integration, regression, and performance tests, and reviews software designs, source code, test results, and releases for technical adequacy.
• Plans, organizes, and directs HEC training classes, developing course content, agendas, exercises, and manuals for applied hydraulic engineering and water-resources analysis.
• Represents HEC and the HEC-RAS team with USACE offices, Headquarters, other Federal and non-Federal agencies, universities, and consultants on hydraulic modeling methods and water-resources engineering practice.

Applicants need a bachelor's (or higher) degree in engineering from an ABET-accredited program, or one of the education and experience combinations listed on the announcement (including Engineer Intern, Engineer in Training, or Professional Engineer registration, or a passed Fundamentals of Engineering examination), plus the specialized experience required for the grade applied for.
