The Watershed Analysis Tool (HEC-WAT) software developed by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers' Hydrologic Engineering Center (HEC) is a model integration tool that allows multi-disciplinary teams in USACE offices
to perform water resources studies. HEC-WAT accomplishes this through a framework that provides the user with the ability to perform studies in a comprehensive, systems-based approach. The HEC-WAT framework
promotes the building, editing and running of models commonly applied by multi-disciplinary teams including the saving and displaying of data and results in a coordinated fashion. Performing a risk analysis in
a systems approach is an underpinning of the HEC-WAT framework, and is based on the Flood Risk Analysis (FRA) compute option. The FRA compute option supports the analysis of complex riverine systems while
implementing flood risk and uncertainty and systems analysis requirements. The HEC-WAT software also allows a user to perform plan comparisons or system performance analyses while incorporating risk analysis
methods.
HEC-WAT 1.0 is designated as 'CoP Preferred' by the HH&C CoP as an engineering software tool. Because HEC-WAT 1.0 has not yet been certified for use on USACE Planning studies, however, it is considered
provisional for planning analyses.
The purpose of this site is to enhance the support services HEC provides to our customers. A number of resources are avilable to help the user to download the software, learn how to use HEC-WAT, resolve problems,
report bugs, and suggest improvements to HEC products and service. Unfortunately, HEC is unable to provide phone or email technical support to non-USACE customers. However, HEC does encourage anyone who finds
an issue in our software, to please report it through the Bug Report page of this website. Please review our Support Policy page for details.
