Emerging Sites - New opportunities for added environmental benefits

The Corps manages a large, diverse, and influential portfolio of water resources infrastructure. The Sustainable Rivers Program works to implement operational changes such that those facilities generate more environmental benefits.

Sustainable Rivers is keenly interested in expansion because working in new places offers opportunities to apply established methods for environmental benefits and to learn about new challenges, which allows the Program to further hone its strategies. The Program actively invites new collaborations, working with team of water managers, operators, scientists, and stakeholders to advance environmental efforts.

2023

In 2023, the SRP budget was increased by 40%, which enabled Sustainable Rivers to continue inviting engagement of new rivers, reservoirs, and types of environmental actions at USACE water resources infrastructure. 13 new rivers were proposed for involvement in the Program.   Read More
